gnome-desktop is a program for displaying random pictures on your GNOME desktop background. It reads a sub-directory of $HOME (by default: Pictures) every n minutes (default: 1440 = once/per day) and every s seconds (default: 50) picks a random file and sets the gconf key /desktop/gnome/background/picture_filename to the absolute path to that file. This results in GNOME displaying that piture on your desktop background. The tiling of the picture is goverened by the value of the gconf key /desktop/gnome/background/picture_options. I use a value of "scaled". You can set this via gconf-editor. Usage: gnome-desktop [s] [m] [subdir]
